Abstract

Determining appropriate social policies requires accurate, integrated data that comprehensively depicts societal conditions amidst the increasing complexity of various social problems. Although the availability of data from various government sectors continues to increase along with the development of digitalization, its utilization in the policy-making process still faces various challenges, such as suboptimal data integration, differences in information quality, and limited analytical capacity. This study aims to analyze the optimal role of statistics in supporting social policy-making by strengthening the identification of social problems, determining policy priorities, integrating various data sources, policy evaluation, and strengthening data governance and statistical analysis capacity. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through data collection from scientific articles and various relevant previous studies, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results show that the use of statistical analysis can improve the accuracy of social problem identification, support more objective program prioritization, and strengthen the accuracy of policy targets through the use of integrated data. The integration of various data sources, evaluation and monitoring based on statistical analysis, and strengthening data governance and human resource capacity have proven to be important factors in improving the quality of the decision-making process and the effectiveness of social policy implementation. Therefore, strengthening the data ecosystem and statistical analysis needs to be continuously developed as a foundation for realizing social policies that are adaptive, accountable, efficient, and oriented towards improving community welfare.
