Gender Ideology in Class Discourse: Studies in Junior High Schools in Bali

This study aims to describe gender ideology in class discourse, namely the embodiment of gender ideology, the meaning of gender ideology, and the application of gender ideology in class discourse. This research is a qualitative research with a critical discourse analysis approach and gender theory. The research data is in the form of classroom discourse conducted by teachers and students in junior high schools in Bali which are then transcribed into written presentations in the form of conversation units that represent gender ideology in class discourse. Data analysis includes three dimensions, namely discourse analysis, processing analysis, and social analysis which are then modified into language description, interpretation, and explanation. The use of words and sentences in class discourse by teachers and students as a means to convey certain intentions and meanings that are gender oriented. The meaning of gender ideology in class discourse includes gender ideology as a belief system and gender ideology as a system of action. The application of values in actions, behaviors and attitudes that determine how to see oneself and how to perceive and treat others. The implications of this study place presentation as an important part of its analysis, how one party, group, person, idea, or event is displayed in a certain way by discourse, which influences meaning when received by the interlocutor.
